BAH Sponsors Blue Valley Center for Advanced Professional Studies

Blue Valley CAPS Thanks Bayer
Published: 10/31/18

High schoolers near Bayer Animal Health U.S. headquarters in Shawnee, KS, are getting a first-hand look at veterinary medicine. Students in the Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) program partner with Bayer scientists to solve real-world problems through the school's Veterinary Medicine curriculum, which Bayer has funded with $30,000 to date. Watch how CAPs has put the funds to use.

Like other CAPS programs, these Veterinary Medicine students spend the first half of their day in the classroom and the second half of their day engaging with hands-on experiences for which they receive high school and even college credit. Most recently, Bayer tasked CAPS students with improving a conditioner for pet fur. The students were asked to create a model for testing the aesthetic properties of the product to ensure that it wasn't too flaky or greasy. The students also learn how to improve the health and well-being of farm animals.
